Three Cheers For World Menopause Day!
Menopause. It is right around the corner for me and if you are a woman, you are going to go through it. Fortunately for us, information, advice, and help navigating menopause has never been more available, although there is still a long way to go.
Today is World Menopause Day, bringing attention and focus to something which will impact half the people on Earth! While talking about menopause is no longer the taboo it once was, we all need to be talking about it more. And not just women, but the men in our lives as well: our partners, children, fathers, brothers, and friends.
In elevating menopause and giving space and time to discuss it more openly together we can create a new reality. One where every woman has access to evidence-based information and care and where there is no stigma associated with this transition. Together we can do this!
On a more individual level, educating yourself about perimenopause and menopause is one of the most important things you can do. You are your own best advocate, and it is necessary as unfortunately much of the medical profession is not yet as informed as they should be. It is still often left up to us to figure it all out.
This issue is dedicated to raising awareness and education. Below you will find a list of resources to help you more successfully navigate perimenopause and menopause, whether you went through early menopause, are 38 (yes, you can easily be in perimenopause at 38) or in your 50s. Many of these providers work in conjunction with your existing OBGYN or primary care doctor.
And for all my male readers, please pass this along to your mom, sister, friend, spouse, or partner. We need your help too!

None of us are in this alone. While your doctor may not have the answers, the information does exist and there are people who can help. Together, we can as Elektra Health says, “smash the taboo” of menopause.
See you Thursday…
